N3SH Bonus Station Pictures

Click HERE to see if you are in the Log and to order a certificate!!

As part of our operation of the Special Event (Bonus) Station for the 2006 Pennsylvania QSO Party, the Wireless Association will offer a certificate (in addition to the standard QSL cards) for stations contacting one or more of the various N3SH stations in operation.

The certificate will feature pictures from this year's operations, and list all operators at each of the various stations.

Participants who desire a certificate are asked to make a $3 donation to help cover shipping & handling costs.  Funds remaining after all certificates are mailed will be donated to the WASH Tower Fund campaign.

The Pennsylvania QSO Party is over.

Quotes:

Ron and the N3SH teams,

"I would just like to say thanks for being EVERYWHERE!! The N3SH stations were fantastic, and I seemed to run into them constantly. And from what I'm reading on the reflector, lots of others had the same great experience. Thanks very much folks, you did a great job, and you are giving new meaning and greater challenges to future PaQP Special Event Stations."

Best regards,

Bob - N3FR port WAR

"Well done! I know I heard them on quite a bit, sometimes as many as 3 or 4 different N3SH stations all on the same frequency making it easy to collect bonus points. I surely didn't "get them all" but I sure worked a bunch of them equally split between phone and CW. Please pass along the kudos to all of the operators of the various N3SH stations!"

Mark - NK8Q/3 (LEH)

"It was an impressive effort by the N3SH ops. We worked them 23 times, 6 CW and the rest SSB. All of the CW Q's were from counties where we also had SSB contacts with N3SH, so we could have worked them on other bands on CW, too, but missed them."

73,

John - W4AU @W3ZI

Kevin,

"I want to give a very grateful THANKS to N3SH for my SIX contacts & county mutipliers with N3SH. I read on your web site that some people had trouble with their logging software and multiple N3SH qso's. I solved the problem in two ways, N3SH in Alleghany couny was logged as N3SH / A & N3SH / W was logged from Washington county, eliminating any " DUPE " problems.
What also has worked for me in the past is N3SH / M1 & N3SH / M2, that is seen as seperate & individual callsigns by my logging software. I will be submitting my log soon and application for working 30 PA counties. Again Thanks for the QSO's and 73. Hope to work you soon."

N3SH Special Event Station, 2006 Pennsylvania QSO Party: Early News

Hard to believe after almost a year of planning and hard work, it's all over with so quickly!

Despite the actions of strange propagation, last minute scheduling conflicts and changes, competing contests the same weekend, and of course our annual visits from Murphy, the N3SH operations pretty much came off as planned! We ended up running fixed stations from seven counties as follows:

N3SH Allegheny County :

  • CW from K3VX's QTH
  • SSB from N3XI's QTH
  • RTTY from N3RDV's QTH

N3SH Fayette County : From the W3PIE Clubhouse

Our thanks again to the Uniontown ARC!

N3SH Washington County : From W4ZE's QTH

N3SH Butler County : From K3AIR's QTH

N3SH Clarion County : From N3SBF & KB3GMN's hunting cabin

N3SH McKean County : From a KOA Campground

N3SH Venango County : From N3ZK's family home

In addition, N3SH Mobile covered a multitude of additional counties.

So, how'd we do? We're still gathering information and should have more details posted here in the next few days, so check back soon!

A few FAQ's:

(Q) How do I log the multiple N3SH stations?

(A) Each station should be logged as a separate entity.

(Q) What is each QSO worth?

(A) Each QSO with each N3SH station is worth 200 bonus points. You could have worked N3SH once per band & per mode, so it is very possible to have a half dozen or more different N3SH QSO's on each band/mode combination

(Q) Do the three N3SH Allegheny locations count separately?

(A) No. They all count as one county for logging purposes

(Q) My software gave me a hard time about the N3SH stations

(A) Yes, many software packages appear to have had a problem, even though this was done before (W3UU in 2003). If this is the case, for logging purposes only, make sure you have N3SH/R (Rover) entered into the log.

(Q) How do I QSL the N3SH stations?

(A) QSL all via N3ZNI. Please send an SASE for all QSL Cards.

(Q) Will I be able to check on-line for my N3SH QSO's?

(A) Yes, that will be coming soon.

(Q) What about the certificate?

(A) In addition to checking on your contacts, you will be able to request a special Certificate for working one or more of the N3SH operations, and you will be able to do so on-line, too. Details forthcoming!

(Q) What about pins?

(A) KB3HVN has designed a special lapel pin to commemorate the N3SH operation. We will soon be taking orders; details will also soon be available on the web site!

Did you know . that the current ZL8R DXpedition to the Kermadec Islands operated in the QSO Party? OK, so not exactly, but they did work N3SH / Allegheny on 15 SSB on Saturday (it was the station's first DX contact on phone). Maybe we should send a contest entry in for them?
